European Parliament President Roberta Metsola announced all diplomatic staff and representatives of Iran are banned from European Parliament premises amid ongoing protests in several parts of the country.

"Today I have taken the decision to ban all diplomatic staff and any other representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran from all European Parliament premises," Metsole said.

According to her, this House will not aid in legitimising this regime that has sustained itself through repression.

The European Parliament is located in three main places: Brussels (Belgium), Strasbourg (France), and Luxembourg City (Luxembourg). The European Parliament’s official seat and the venue for most of the plenary sessions would be Strasbourg; parliamentary committees would have their meetings in Brussels, and Parliament’s Secretariat would be based in Luxembourg.
