5,000-year-old burial mound found in Stavropol Territory

In one of the villages of the Stavropol Territory, a burial mound was discovered. Its estimated age exceeds 5,000 years. The unique find was made by specialists who carried out repair work on the gas pipeline.

Specialists from Gazprom Transgaz Stavropol stumbled upon an ancient burial mound in the village of Bezopasnoye, a message posted on the social networks of the head of the district reads.

Nina Anikeeva noted that the age of the mound is about 5,000 years. The unique find was made during the repair work on the gas pipeline.

The company affirms that seven burials with ancient jewelry, utensils, weapons and other household items, as well as remnants of a family – a man, a woman and two children – were found at the site. All the findings were transferred for further research to the Stavropol State Museum of Local Lore.

Archaeologists have established that the discovered burials belong to the period between the early Bronze Age and the Great Nogai Horde.

Last year, an ancient burial mound in the Novoaleksandrovsky district was discovered by a fisherman.
