The Consulate General of the Russian Federation will be opened in Khankendi in 2024. The launch of the diplomatic mission was announced by the Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Grigory Karasin.
The diplomat made a corresponding statement at a meeting with the delegation of the Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic, headed by the Chairman of the relevant committee, Samad Seyidov.
"I would note the opening of the Consulate General in Khankendi among our bilateral issues. We plan to begin preparatory work for this in the near future and count on your support",
Karasin said
The senator also named the optimal timing for opening the Consulate General. According to the diplomat, the best option would be for it to start working before the end of this year.
"This will allow us to eliminate the disparity in mutual consular presence",
Karasin said
Interaction with PACE
In addition to this, the Russian senator announced Moscow's readiness to share with Baku its experience of interaction with PACE, given that in January the assembly refused to ratify the credentials of the Azerbaijani delegation.
"We share Baku's approaches to interaction in PACE and are ready to share experience",
Karasin said.
