The United States is prepared to make a deal with Iran when Tehran is ready, U.S. President Donald Trump said in a speech to the Israeli parliament on Monday.

"We are ready when you are and it will be the best decision that Iran has ever made, and it's going to happen," Trump said, referring to a deal with Iran.

He also defended pulling Washington out of an agreement brokered under ex-president Barack Obama on Iran's nuclear programme.

According to the U.S. leader, the hand of friendship and cooperation is still open.

"Yet even to Iran, whose regime has inflicted so much death on the Middle East, the hand of friendship and cooperation is open. They want to make a deal and we're going to see if we can do something," Trump said.

The U.S. and Iran held five rounds of nuclear talks, prior to a 12-day war between Iran and Israel in June, which Washington joined by striking key Iranian nuclear sites.
