Russia's Deputy PM and Iran's Security Council Secretary hold talks in Tehran

Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Saveliev held talks with Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani in Tehran, according to Larijani's social media.

The talks were focused on accelerating the implementation of the International North-South Transport Corridor.

Larijani said Iran is fully determined to fulfill its commitments under the strategic project, stressing that all executive and institutional obstacles will be resolved in the near future.

According to him, following directives by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, ownership of all lands located along the corridor’s route will be transferred to the Iranian administration within the next few months to ensure the project proceeds without disruption.

In 2023, Russia and Iran signed an agreement on the joint construction of the Rasht-Astara route.
