Armenia has no plans to join NATO

Armenia has no aspirations to join NATO, MP from the ruling Civil Contract Party and Head of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs Sargis Khandanyan said.

The senior lawmaker was asked about a possible NATO presence in Armenia in the context of Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP). He said such assumptions are inappropriate.

According to him, Armenia's cooperation with NATO does not imply NATO’s physical presence in the country.

Khandanyan said that speaking about NATO’s presence in the context of the TRIPP project is inappropriate, because it is a connectivity project.
