Russia is currently awaiting a US response to its proposal to extend the New START restrictions for another year. All scenarios are possible, and the country's security will be ensured in any case, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports.

The Russian-US Strategic Offensive Arms Treaty (New START) expires in a month. Oleg Postnikov, Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Department for Nonproliferation and Arms Control, explained what steps Moscow will take in this regard.

After the New START Treaty between Russia and the US expires, Moscow will determine its next steps once Washington officially responds to Russia's proposal to extend the treaty's restrictions for another year, he noted.

Russia is prepared for any scenario, based on the possible US response. The diplomat assured that the security of the countries will be ensured even after the expiration of the New START Treaty.
