U.S. President Donald Trump warned Iran that continued assassination threats made by leaders in Tehran would be met with the country getting “blown up.”
The U.S. leader told NewsNation that he's left notification.
“Anything ever happens, we’re going to blow the whole - the whole country’s going to get blown up," Trump said.
Trump previously said he left instructions to destroy Iran should the country assassinate him. The U.S. president made the remark after signing an executive order just after taking office giving him all the possible tools to engage with Iran’s government and apply maximum pressure on Tehran.
Iranian General Abolfazl Shekarchi said Trump already knew Tehran would not hold back if the tables were turned.
"Trump knows that if a hand of aggression is extended toward our leader, we will not only sever that hand, and this is not a mere slogan. But we will set their world on fire and leave them no safe haven in the region," Shekarchi said.
