Russia awaits US response regarding New START Treaty extension

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova confirmed no official US response has been received regarding Russian President Vladimir Putin's initiative on the New START.

"The Russian side has still not received any substantive official response from the US through bilateral channels to the 'post-New START' initiative",

Maria Zakharova reported.

Zakharova also recalled that the initiative to implement the restrictions stipulated in the treaty for another year after its expiration on February 5, 2026, had been put forward by the Russian president in September of last year.
