Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkmenistan and Romania have agreed to create a new international transport corridor, to be named the "Black Sea-Caspian Sea" route, the Georgian media reported citing a government decree from December 8, 2025.

The decree states that an agreement on the creation and operation of the new international transport route has been signed by the governments of Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Romania.

The issue of creating this corridor was discussed during a meeting between Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on December 12. The meeting took place on the sidelines of an international forum in Ashgabat dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust.

"The sides discussed political and economic relations between the two countries. Attention was paid to the potential for deepening cooperation in the field of transit and logistics, as well as attracting additional cargo from Central Asia to Georgian seaports via the Middle Corridor," the press release reads.

The Georgian PM also declared the republic's readiness to facilitate the transportation of Turkmen gas through its territory.

Furthermore, Kobakhidze also met with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov in Ashgabat. The sides discussed intensifying cooperation in the field of logistics.
