The former deputy minister of Georgia's Ministry of Health has been detained on charges of abuse of office. He faces up to 5 years in prison.

Investigative officials at the Georgian Ministry of Finance have taken former Deputy Health Minister Ilia Gudushauri into custody, the press service of the ministry reports.

The former official is accused of abuse of office. Specifically, the investigation established that Gudushauri, while head of the ministry's tender committee, stalled a tender for the purchase of ambulances, which was announced in 2022. At that time, a winner had already been selected.
