Internet access has been restored across most of Afghanistan, with some areas still experiencing intermittent service, according to UN reports.
The government attributes the outage to technical failures in aging fiber optic infrastructure, as reported by Interfax citing Al Jazeera.
"There is nothing resembling the rumors circulating that we have imposed an internet ban",
Afghan authorities stated.
A BBC source claims restoration occurred by direct order of the Taliban Prime Minister, while NetBlocks confirms service resumed amid public dissatisfaction.
Residents celebrated the return of internet access with spontaneous street gatherings.
