Passenger car traffic on the Gudauri-Kobi road, which leads to the Georgian-Russian border, has been allowed for the first time since February 2.
The route had been closed to all traffic since February 2 due to a high risk of avalanches. While the ban has now been lifted for passenger vehicles, it remains in effect for heavy freight transport.
Traffic on the Gudauri-Kobi section is currently permitted only through special avalanche protection tunnels as a safety measure.
