The Georgian State Security Service will investigate the validity of current food prices in Georgia.
The Georgian State Security Service will investigate the feasibility of the current high food prices, First Deputy Head of the Service Lasha Maghradze informed.
"The State Security Service is launching a detailed investigation within its jurisdiction, and any illegal action that harms the interests of Georgian citizens and the economic security of our country will be met with appropriate, stringent legal action,”
– Lasha Maghradze said.
The issue was previously raised by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. The head of government stated that grocery stores mark up food by approximately 86%, suggesting a cartel agreement cannot be ruled out.
