Azerbaijan expels four Iranian diplomats

Four employees of the Iranian embassy in Azerbaijan have been declared persona non grata. They must leave Azerbaijan within 48 hours.

Azerbaijan has declared persona non grata of four diplomats working at the Iranian embassy in Baku, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry informs.

Today, Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Seyyed Abbas Mousavi was summoned to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

The diplomat was told about the dissatisfaction caused in Baku by the provocative activities of the Islamic Republic against Azerbaijan.

Mousavi was informed that four employees of the Iranian diplomatic mission were declared undesirable persons. The reason for assigning them the status of persona non grata is their actions that do not correspond to the status of diplomats and contradict the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

All these diplomats will have to leave Azerbaijan within two days.

Iranian special services laid a plot to overthrow the government in Azerbaijan

Today, the law enforcement agencies of Azerbaijan announced the disclosure of a plot laid by the Iranian special services.

Several residents of Azerbaijan were recruited by succumbing to religious propaganda. A group was organized aiming to seize power in Azerbaijan and create a religious state that would live according to Sharia law. Members of the organization were also involved in drug trafficking.

 

The activity of the criminal group was revealed, the suspects are detained.
