The petition to cancel the new time zone and introduce the old one will be considered by the Kazakh authorities in the near future, the Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin said.

He clarified that over 50 thousand signatures were signed under the appeal with the self-explanatory title "Bring back time". This means that the authorities are obliged to discuss the initiative.

According to the politician, a working group will be formed. The petition's author, experts, representatives of the scientific community and authorities will participate in the discussion.

"We have 40 days. You will receive the result soon",

Zhumangarin said.

Transition to a new time zone in Kazakhstan
The country adopted to the new time on March 1. Previously, Kazakhstan had two time zones: UTC+5 and UTC+6. Since spring, there has been only one – UTC+5. Thus, most of Kazakhstan became an hour closer in time to Moscow and further from China.

Some people of the country, particularly in the north, reacted negatively to the unification of time zones. They are displeased with the earlier sunrises in comparison to the previous time zone, as well as the fact that it starts getting dark sooner.
