Sergey Les, head of the Krymsky District of Krasnodar Krai, has been detained. The official is accused of embezzling state land.

Sergey Les, head of the Krymsky district administration of Kuban, has been detained on charges of misappropriating state land.

According to prosecutors, Les and his family members illegally appropriated over hundred plots of land, violating laws on the transparency of public procurement. The supervisory agency has filed a lawsuit demanding the return of the stolen lands to state ownership.

"The basis for initiating a criminal case is the presence of sufficient evidence indicating that the head's actions contain elements of criminal activity,”

– the Investigative Committee reported.

The Kuban official's home was reportedly searched.
