The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has called on the UN Security Council to intervene in resolving the situation around the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing that guaranteeing the safety of ships must be the top priority.
Speaking at a Security Council meeting, GCC Secretary-General Jasem Al-Budaiwi called on the UN Security Council to use all available means to ensure navigation in the strait.
"The Gulf Cooperation Council emphasizes the importance of the adoption of a UN Security Council resolution authorizing the use of all available and necessary means to protect navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, end attacks on ships, and guarantee freedom of passage."
Jasem Al-Budaiwi said.
