Joint border demarcation work between Azerbaijan and Armenia has started near the Zod gold mine in Azerbaijan's Kalbajar region.
Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan confirmed the start of the process to Armenian media, stating that the area has undergone an initial inspection. He clarified that reports of military activity are false, confirming that the demarcation is being conducted by civilian border guard services.
Grigoryan emphasized that the work is proceeding in strict accordance with existing national laws and the ratified statutes of the bilateral demarcation commissions. This, he stated, provides the necessary legal basis for demarcation without requiring a public referendum.
